The internet giant Google recently launched a new smart device which promises to improve our lives. This new gadget is called Google Home and it is a voice-activated speaker which integrates Google Assistant.

The Google Assistant is probably one of the best features of the Google’s Home because it allows the user to use voice commands and make voice searches. A huge plus is that Google Home knows what you previously asked for and offers the information in context.

There are a lot of things a person can do with this tech gadget. It really has some interesting features like playing music, podcasts or radio from services like Google Play Music, Spotify, YouTube Music or Pandora.

Although this seems very cool. There is a huge downside. For Youtube the user needs to activate Youtube Red which is available only in Australia, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand and The United States. So the user who live in other countries can’t use the Youtube function. This kind of sucks.

Another huge problem with the Google Home is the fact that it requires a premium account at Google Play Music or Spotify to play the Mp3 stored on the phone. Not being able to play the Mp3 files I have on my Android phone without paying a subscription on a music service is a huge minus.

Another issue with this gadget may be the lack of privacy. Do we really want far field microphones in our homes? Although Google Home has a button to mute the microphones a hacker may turn them on and spy on us.

Not all things are bad with the Google phone. The voice commands work well and it is reliable as an assistant. The feature called “My day” helps me be more organized and manage my daily tasks. With the help of Google Home I can add thing on my “to do” list and on my shopping list.

The Google Home also works as a control device for other smart gadgets. It can be used to control the lights, or to play a video on the TV.

Google Home Pros:

– It is an interesting smart device with a lot of exciting features.

– The feature called “My day” offers the user important information about the weather, the traffic in your area and the meetings.

– It is simple to manage the “to do” and shopping lists.

– It can be use to control other smart devices.

Google Home Cons:

– it can’t play music from Youtube unless you have a Red account

– it can’t play music from the phone without having a premium subscription at Play Music or Spotify

– it only works with one Google account.

In conclusion: Google Home is a cool smart gadget which has some useful features but its limitations may prove to be very annoying for some people.
