Introduction To Oracle Database Licensing

In the field of information technology, there are various areas where the data is managed as well as maintained. For this task also there are specific systems and technologies that come to the help of the experts. One of such system is database licensing from one of the tech company. Oracle database is the collection of data treated as a single unit. The main purpose of the database is to retrieve and store related information. The problems related to information management are solved using a database server. Generally speaking, a server manages a huge amount of data so that the different users can use the data efficiently as per the requirement. A database server allows only the authorized access and provides solutions in case of any failure.

The Oracle database is the very first database designed for enterprise grid computing. It is the most cost-effective and flexible method for the management of applications and information. The enterprise grid computing creates large pools of modular server and storages.

License

A license is known as the “RTU,” right to use the software. It’s not the software itself. One can easily get a copy of the software by any means such as CD’s from the previous project, downloading if he/ she have the license. Oracle licensing allows the users to install and use the software. The license is not tied up to the product version.  The license of an older version is equally valid for the new versions if the genuine contract of support and maintenance is in place.

Oracle licensing

ULA or unlimited license agreement is an unlimited use right, time-based license for a certain Oracle product. At the time when the period of the same is over, the user has to declare usage and count the number of licenses required. The user is then given the required number of licenses for the subset of the product as covered by ULA.

Processor licensing

Processor licensing is used when the number of users cannot be verified or counted. Web-based applications are a good example of this type of Oracle licensing, where it is difficult to count the number of users. Oracle does not provide processor licensing for personal edition Oracle products. The production of a number of cores of the processor and the core processor licensing factor mentioned on the Oracle processor core factor table.

User licensing

Since the 1980’s, the Oracle has been providing the users with the Oracle database licenseThe metric has changed with the changing times, but the base remains the same. The Oracle user license is based on the individual users that can access the software regardless of the active usage.

Oracle license management system

Oracle has a separate department, LMS called the Oracle License Management Services. This department is open to anyone with an investment in Oracle Licensing. The main aim of the Oracle License Management department is to support and help the customers with their licenses. It helps the customers with the ownership rights and limitations. This department manages the license usage.
